Presidents Day Units for the Elementary Classroom

social studies

February might be the shortest month of the year, but there are so many holidays packed into it! We love taking the time to celebrate each one in our class, but Presidents Day has a special place in our hearts. There is something special about watching our students as they realize that Presidents Day is about more than just a day off of school! But, we also know that finding age appropriate and engaging activities for early elementary students can be hard! That’s why we created our Presidents Day Units!

Our Presidents Day Units cover both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. As they work through the unit, your students will learn about their lives and legacies. Each of the units integrates literacy and history in a fun and interactive way! Are you ready for the best part? Each unit comes in TWO versions! Both units come as Pocketbook or a digital unit!

How does the Pocketbook work?

We love using Pocketbook Units since they keep everything organized and are easy to put together!  Instructions for creating the pocketbook are included in your download. They are really easy to make!  All you need is a binding machine (most schools already have one), binding combs, and construction paper. If your school doesn’t have a binding machine you can use, we like this binding machine.  It is a great deal and comes along with 100 binding combs! When your binding combs run out, grab our favorite ones here*Affiliate links included

The best part about Pocketbooks is they let you seamlessly move through content with your students, and each child will be able to create their own portfolio along the way to store their work. That’s right, no more losing student work because everything fits into the Pocketbook!  Students, parents and administrators LOVE the impressive final product, and it will be a keepsake that they will be proud of and love to show off!!

We’ve bundled both units and discounted them so you can be ready for Presidents Day! Grab the bundle here. If you’re looking to purchase them separately, get the George Washington Pocketbook unit here and the Abraham Lincoln Pocketbook unit here.

How does the digital unit work?

Digital units have become a staple in teaching and they aren’t going anywhere. We are all familiar with how they are used for distance learning but we also love them for in person instruction! With our digital units, you get all of the resources listed above in easy to use formats. Easily assign each activity through Google Classroom or SeeSaw!

If you’re looking for easy differentiation, digital units are for you! Our digital units come with editable powerpoint presentations and an editable version of the reading comprehension booklet. This lets you easily differentiate materials for all of the learners in your classroom!
